Gather@Grand: Complexities of Color

REGISTER

In-Person or via Zoom!

A special presentation on how whiteness has shaped the humanity of white people and distorted the national promise of liberty, freedom, and equal opportunity.

In this Gather@Grand learn-in/teach-in, participants and presenters will come to clarity on what it means that whiteness is constructed (rather than natural); that the ascendancy of color-prejudice can be discerned early in the long story of North America (and re-inscribed often); and that the choice to first see and then resist racism can be made. Come away with ideas as to how to respond. The featured guest speaker (via Zoom and shown on the big screen) is Dr. Jacqueline Battalora of St. Xavier University (Chicago). Others who have been active in the various anti-racism programs of Gather@Grand will assist.
