Ways to Give

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38

Since 1850 this congregation of women religious has been sustained through our faith and hope in God, our commitment to our mission, and by the loving generosity of people like you. Thoughtful gifts have enabled us to persevere for more than 170 years to serve our Church and God’s people as preachers of truth, love, and justice.

Today you will find us in ministry in education, healthcare, and social services. We express the Holy Preaching in schools, hospitals and clinics, affordable housing communities, retreat centers, and parishes. Some retired sisters are engaged as volunteers and in prayer ministry. Each one of our sisters at Our Lady of Lourdes Convent, where we care for our most senior sisters, receives the tender attention she deserves after a lifetime of giving to others.

With gratitude for the support we receive from family, friends, colleagues, and partners in mission and ministry, we faithfully hold you in our thoughts and prayers.

First Friday Mass Remembrance Program

Prayer is fundamental to Dominican life. For many years we have maintained the First Friday Mass Remembrance Program. At Mass on the First Friday of every month, the Sisters gather in special prayer. We maintain a list of requests and pray for all listed each month for a year. We have a special card that we can provide to send yourself, or we can send it for you from San Rafael for any occasion. A gift is not necessary; although any gifts received through the Mass Remembrance Program are used specifically to care for our Sisters at Our Lady of Lourdes Convent.

Visit our Heritage Room

The original four-story Motherhouse, built in 1889, was badly damaged by fire in 1990. We made the decision to replace it with the low, modern buildings on the same site. Fortunately, many precious reminders of our long history were saved. Our Heritage Room is curated by our congregational archivist. The items displayed help tell the fascinating story of our founding and thriving, throughout California and Nevada. We offer tours to the public each quarter, or can be arranged by appointment. Please call 415 453 8303 for more information.

Stay Connected

Our Office of Communications facilitates connection with all those who know us and those who may wish to know us.

We publish a newsletter, OP Ignite, twice each year. We send invitations to all kinds of gatherings, for prayer, for study, and for celebration. We answer questions, we acknowledge your gifts, and we respond to your prayer requests.

Please email communityrelations@sanrafaelop.org if you would like to be added to our mailing list.
