The most fortunate are those who have a wonderful capacity to appreciate again and again, freshly and naively, the basic goods of life, with awe, pleasure, wonder and even ecstasy.

Never be so focused on what you’re looking for that you overlook the thing you actually find.

Human beings must always be on the watch for the coming of wonders.

To me the sea is a continual miracle, the fishes that swim — the rocks — the motion of the waves — the ships, with men in them — what stranger miracles are there?
