#justiceOPportunity Thursday, May 13, 2021
Sr. Judy Lu McDonnell, OP
Ms. Lyn Kirkconnell
It’s #justiceOPportunity Thursday, and we are inviting you to join us in the fight against deforestation.
Last summer we again watched the swirling smoke of Amazon wildfires, horrified and heartbroken as millions of acres of forests were destroyed. And, illegal deforestation has been on the rise as the COVID-19 pandemic reduced the capacity for oversight and enforcement of laws protecting forests.
Forests have always been one of our most useful tools in the fight against climate change. They still are — stopping deforestation and restoring cleared land is a critical part of avoiding worst-case climate scenarios, and it’s an action we can take right now. Sign your name today.
We simply cannot afford to lose any more acres in the Amazon or other tropical forests to wildfires and deforestation. That’s why Conservation International’s efforts to restore the world’s largest rainforest are more critical than ever.
Add your name to join our fight to restore 70,000 acres of trees in Amazonia to protect wildlife, mitigate climate change and increase prosperity for people.
