#justiceOPportunity Thursday—January 7, 2021
Sr. Judy Lu McDonnell, OP
Ms. Lyn Kirkconnell
It’s #justiceOPportunity Thursday—and we are asking you to join us in signing a petition to suspend debt repayments in light of the global pandemic.
Twice we saw the G20 countries agree to suspend debt repayments, something we need to return to in 2021, which freed up around $5.7 billion for vulnerable countries. While we couldn’t shift the World Bank or private lenders, we did (and will continue to) keep relentless pressure upon them throughout the year.
Over 80,000 people have signed our petition to ask G20 countries and the World Bank to suspend debt repayments so far. Can you join them?
