#justiceOPportunity Thursday—August 13, 2020

It’s #justiceOPpportunity Thursday and we are calling on your support to stop the executions! The current administration has restarted federal executions after a 17-year hiatus. The U.S. Department of Justice has so far scheduled 5 execution dates this summer, with 3 of them having taken place in July. To resume federal executions once again, especially at this rate, is an affront to the progress this country has made in eliminating the death penalty state-by-state and bringing us in-line with international human rights standards. Currently four more dates are scheduled in 2020: August 26, August 28, September 22, and September 24. And there could be more.

Here is what you can do! Since our position against capital punishment is one of our corporate stances, the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael are currently directing a petition to the U.S. Congress detailing our opposition to the federal death penalty. Click to join us signing this petition.
