Poetry Collection to Celebrate 60th Jubilee

Poetry Collection to Celebrate 60th Jubilee

Sr. Judith Kay Campbell (seated) with Sisters Susannah Malarkey, Judy Lu McDonnell, and Gervaise Valpey.

Sr. Judith Kay Campbell, OP started planning for her upcoming 60th Jubilee last fall when she consulted a group of Sister-friends and appointed them to her editorial team for a collection of poetry she put together. Sisters Susannah Malarkey, Judy Lu McDonnell, Maureen McInerney, and Gervaise Valpey were eager to help mark this milestone in such a creative way and set to task combing through a vast volume of poetic works by Sr. Judith Kay. The finished collection is called “Wondrous Creator Lights Up my Darkness” and is dedicated to Sr. Judith’s longtime friend and spiritual companion, Kathleen Denison. Much of the poetry was written during and as a result of the global pandemic, and for Sr. Judith Kay it was essential to get in touch with her feelings as well as nature and the beauty that surrounds her. What an uplifting way to find lightness in a dark time, and what a special way to celebrate Jubilee! Congratulations to Sr. Judith Kay on her poetry project and her sixty years with the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael.
