Grand Opening Provides Homelessness Relief

Grand Opening Provides Homelessness Relief

A wonderful milestone for one of our community partners! Homeward Bound of Marin celebrated the grand opening of Jonathan’s Place last week—a reimagined space on Mill Street with greater capacity to meet the needs and challenges of homelessness. Jonathan’s Place offers a modern, efficient shelter, and 32 permanent supportive housing units on two upper floors. Homeward Bound has operated adult shelter services at the site since 1986.

Sr. Carla Kovack, OP, a member of the Homeward Bound Board attended the opening festivities along with Sr. Barbara Green, OP. They were able to tour the place and enjoy the bright spaces, beautiful new kitchen, a see some of the private rooms.

In addition, some time ago, Homeward Bound staff reached out to their partners soliciting photographs of nature. On behalf of the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael, Director of Communications and Advancement Eileen Mize submitted several of her images from around our beautiful campus. And one of her images of poppies and lavender was selected and now hangs in large format on a wall in Jonathan’s Place. The Sisters are thrilled that a bit of the beauty they enjoy every day can be shared through this image.
