#justiceOPportunity Thursday—September 9, 2021

It’s #justiceOPportunity Thursday and we are using the backdrop of 2021 Season of Creation and the Catholic Nonviolence Days of Action (which begins on the International Day of Peace, September 21) as opportunities to highlight important topics and issues raised in Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’. We urge you to do a little self-reflecting and involve others in your home or neighborhood. How do you see environmental damage and its impact on people, creatures, and life systems? Where do we see communities practice nonviolent responses? In addition, you may consider watching Nonviolence for the Earth (https://columbancenter.org/nonviolence-earth-jubilee-earth). Adopt a “nonviolence as a way of life” attitude in the web of Creation. The Catholic Nonviolent Initiative is very timely, not only because of Pope Francis’s all-encompassing vision proposed in the Laudato Si’ Action Plan, but also, as the Holy Father has constantly insisted because we are at a Kairos moment in human history – the pandemic and the post-pandemic world which challenges the entire human family. How can we emerge from this pandemic with a renewed and deeper understanding of our interconnectedness with all of God’s creation? Join us in pursuit of these truths. In the words of a true activist for nonviolence “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” (Mahatma Gandhi)
