#justiceOPportunity Thursday—October 29, 2020

It’s #justiceOPportunity Thursday—and we are asking you to make a phone call in the name of justice. We received the following URGENT request from the Southern California Partners for Global Justice.  Please call your Representatives right away!

Urge Representatives to Halt the Deportation of Black migrants and Demand Accountability

  • ICE is retaliating after Cameroonians and other Black migrants went on a hunger strike to protest anti-Blackness, sterilization, and medical neglect. The retaliation includes physical abuse (strangulation, beatings, and breaking of fingers to force signatures) and solitary confinement.  Migrants including families with babies are beaten and threatened with weapons when they refuse to board transfer planes.  ICE is aware that Cameroon is unstable, given the most recent bi-partisan Senate resolution on Cameroon’s five armed conflicts and human rights abuses.
  • Take action:  Dial twice 202-224-3121Call your Representative and Rep. Karen Bass, Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus.  Urge them both to halt the mass deportations of Black migrants and hold ICE accountable for the violation of Human Rights of detained migrants.
