#justiceOPportunity Thursday—July 2, 2020

It’s #justiceOPportunity Thursday! In these times of social unrest, uncertainty, and fears around the plague of COVID-19 and the plague of racism, as well as concerns about our immigrant sisters and brothers seeking refuge in our land, the environment, for those in prisons, and too many other realities to mention, it is critical that we take a time-out—that we pause. In this pause, we must see our Earth Community as one entity seeking human and ecological rights, yearning for beauty, inner peace, and life with dignity.

As we begin another month and reflect on and celebrate the founding of our nation, let us pause a little and listen to and sing along with the world! Enjoy this global collaboration of the song “Amazing Grace”. The original version is attributed to John Newton, an 18th century British sea captain turned preacher. He was a slave trader for years before his conversion. According to the Dictionary of American Hymnology, “Amazing Grace” is John Newton’s “spiritual autobiography in verse.”

Pause, open wide your hearts, and enjoy!
