Remembering Sisters in Mississippi
Remembering Sister Paula and Sister Margaret
Often we hear about those who are victims of violence; less often those who have given of their lives to others over 30 years. Though these sisters may be remembered in both categories, we hope their lives of selfless service will become the story of their lives.
Please join us in prayer for the repose of the souls of Sister Margaret Held, School Sisters of St. Francis in Milwaukee and Sister Paula Merrill, Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in Kentucky, who were slain August 25 in their home in Mississippi. These sisters, nurse practitioners, worked at a local clinic to provide care for those who could not otherwise afford it. Let us also pray for their congregations, families and friends, and those in the community of Durant who will miss them, and for the individual arrested for perpetrating this violent act.
“Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.”
